Elevate and Joseph’s first week in the UK

It is exactly a week since Elevate Mizinga and Joseph Jeke arrived in the UK. It is their first time out of Africa, first time on an aeroplane, and many new experiences ahead of them.

The main purpose of the CFCM visit to the UK is to meet and thank those who have been faithfully supporting the ministry over the years and provide first-hand news of how the work is developing. On their very first Sunday, Elevate and Joseph visited 3 different churches , two in Suffolk and one in Leicestershire over 100 miles away. On Tuesday they visited a home-group in Derbyshire. They met people who were already familiar with their work, and others who were hearing about CFCM for the first time.

“It has been interesting meeting people who are so interested in CFCM”, says Joseph. And Elevate has been deeply impressed by how much people value children’s ministry in the UK. “In my own country, the children are not valued, therefore children’s ministry is not given a priority, and us as children’s workers are made to feel that our work is not important. But in UK it is so different, people appreciate what we are doing in evangelising the children, and we are feeling so encouraged.”

Elevate and Joseph have been hosted by the trustees of CFCM-UK and their families, and have been taken around to see different parts of the country. At times, they have really felt the cold of the weather – but only warmth from those who have been looking after them!

One new experience for Elevate was seeing an apple tree! And the sight of thousands of chickens in a single shed was amazing for them both! They have enjoyed the great variety of food they have shared with new friends.

In between visits, there has been time to do some office work, creating a new 2024 edition of the CFCM Sunday school teacher training notes, and developing a new manual for the CFCM Training of Trainers course.

Thank you to those who are praying for this trip. Please continue to pray as Elevate and Joseph meet more people and travel wider. Pray for their health, strength and safety, that they will continue to be encouraged and many people will take the work of CFCM to heart.
