Whatever you did for one of the least of these..

Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:34 – 40

Back in March we reported on the tragic results of Cyclone Freddy in Malawi. We asked prayer for the many children who were among the displaced people who, having lost their homes, were living in temporary shelters and crisis centres. This included some of the children and leaders from CFCM Bible clubs in Phalombe.

Thank you for praying and thank you for your financial support to help CFCM bring some relief to these children. Just in time for the cold season, CFCM has been able to provide shelter, food, clothes and warmth to children who lost everything. Expressions of gratitude for the gifts have come from the children themselves, their parents, and even the village chief.

One child-headed family whom CFCM has been supporting for some time has now been able to leave the crisis centre where they have been sleeping since March, and move to their own home. This shelter, built by the hands of CFCM Bible club leaders and funded by CFCM supporters, may be little more than 4 walls, an iron roof and a door – but to Chifundo, Chitsazo and their older sister it is home, security, safety and dignity.

The CFCM staff team, Joseph and Elevate, as well as the CFCM trainers and club leaders in Phalombe (Namalenga and Gazeni pictured above, Chipoya the house builder, and Gomani), have served God by serving these children. They regularly teach the children about God and his great love for them, and by faithfully administering the gifts that have been sent, they have also demonstrated that love, care and compassion. ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
