On a Sunday morning in March, Rachel gathers the children under the trees outside the Well of Life Church at Tchoda to teach them God’s Word. Rachel completed her CFCM training last year, and she puts her training into practice as she tells her class the story of Zacchaeus and how the children need to confess their sins, submit to Christ’s will and allow Him to transform their lives.

Rachel is one of the 952 Sunday school teachers who attended training in 2024. This year, Elevate and Joseph have started a programme of Sunday school visits to evaluate the effectiveness of CFCM’s seminars. They are keen to see how much of the course the teachers assimilate and incorporate into their teaching.

As well as watching Rachel teach, Elevate and Joseph visited 4 other churches that same morning and watched Margret, Kajawa, Allen and Paula in action. Sunday school class sizes varied from 10 to 45 children. The teachers were encouraged by the time and interest Elevate and Joseph were taking through the visits. They wanted to know how they were doing and how they could do better.

Although this was only the first in a series of evaluation visits, Elevate and Joseph already identified some aspects of their training course which need more emphasis and more time spent on. Many Sunday school teachers have low education levels, and a CFCM seminar day is quite intense with a lot of information to absorb. Such teachers would benefit from more practice in the early stages, and more time to ask questions and discuss.

Please pray for wisdom in knowing how best to adapt the training to meet the needs of the Sunday school teachers. CFCM wants all teachers to benefit fully from the training experience so that all Sunday school and Bible club children are hearing the Gospel message clearly.
