New places, renewed acquaintances

Elevate and Joseph have now passed the half-way point in their UK trip. The second week has seen them visiting more churches and CFCM supporters as well as seeing more parts of the country.

The second weekend was spent in London being hosted by Cliff Walk Evangelical Church. Elevate and Joseph were among old friends here, because some of the church members had been to Malawi and visited their work in 2017.

The youth of the church were fascinated to hear about CFCM when Elevate and Joseph visited their youth group on Friday night. Then they experienced street-evangelism London-style as they joined the team on Saturday morning. Cliff Walk is a very multi-cultural church, with about 25 different nationalities represented at the Sunday morning service to learn about CFCM and hear Joseph bring a message for everyone from God’s Word.

On Saturday afternoon Elevate and Joseph saw the sights of London, including the IFS Cloud Cable Car across the River Thames, Trafalgar Square, Westminster and Buckingham Palace.

After a busy city weekend and a much needed Monday day of rest, Elevate and Joseph were off around the country again reporting to churches in Northamptonshire, Derbyshire and Hertfordshire. It was wonderful to be together again with Tim Lawrence who visited Malawi twice, accompanying the CFCM team to the Likoma Island training in 2022, and making a documentary film of Joseph’s ministry in 2023. And among those gathered at Alfreton Christian Fellowship were two ladies who visited Malawi in 2004, seeing the very beginnings of Children for Christ Ministry, and supporting the work ever since.

In their presentation to the churches, Elevate and Joseph have been explaining how their vision is to see a CFCM trainer in every one of the 28 districts of Malawi. With this aim in mind, this week’s “office work” has involved putting together next year’s programme and budget, strategically planning to run seminars in the districts where CFCM still does not have a trainer. It has been good to have this time to reflect on how far CFCM has come in the last 21 years – and where it could go in the next 21 years! Please continue to pray that Elevate and Joseph’s visit will have a big impact and widen CFCM’s support base, so that more and more children in Malawi will be reached with the Gospel through the work of CFCM.
