Crossing the border with CFCM training

Once again, CFCM has taken Sunday school teacher training to an area where such training has never been given. On 1st August CFCM trainers crossed the border into Western Mozambique and travelled to Tete.

The training team consisted of Elevate Mizinga, Joseph Jeke and Robert Gideon. Robert is one of the founder members of CFCM, now a ZEC pastor, but still very involved with CFCM as a member of the Executive committee and the treasurer.

33 Sunday school teachers from 4 different denominations were gathered at Tete Zambezi Evangelical Church. They were eager to learn how to be effective Sunday school teachers in leading the Mozambican children to Christ.

Over three days, the team taught all three levels of CFCM’s syllabus. The participants, some of whom had travelled a long distance, stayed at the church at night, which enabled training to start early in the morning and carry on into the evening. There was plenty of time for the trainers to teach and encourage, and time for the participants to do practicals and ask questions. Safeguarding training was also well received, participants realizing for the first time that it is their Christian and legal duty to defend and speak up for all children, not just their own family. Like in Malawi, child abuse, child marriage and child employment are very prevalent in Mozambique.

All 33 teachers successfully completed the practical assessment on the third and final day. 4 of the teachers have been chosen to attend CFCM’s Training of Trainers course in November. Then there will be local trainers in that part of Mozambique to carry on the great work that started this month.

Praise God for each Sunday school teacher who has been impacted by the CFCM training they received. Let us support them in prayer as they commit to teach the truth of God’s Word to the children in their care. Pray that as a result of CFCM training in Tete, and through the equipping of four new local trainers, young lives will be won for Christ and transformed.
